CompliancePoint Achieves Point-to-Point Encryption Certification; Provides Further Help With Protection Of Payment Card Data

ATLANTA, GA – November 27, 2012 – CompliancePoint, an information security consulting and services provider, announces that they have been certified by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) as a Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) Assessor. To achieve this certification, a company must first be qualified by the Council as a Qualified Security Assessor and then meet additional qualification requirements to become a P2PE assessor.

Point-to-Point Encryption, also known as end-to-end encryption, is an emerging technology that is used to protect sensitive credit card data from point of swipe, while in transit, all the way to the payment processor. This type of protection is critical as hackers increasingly focus on stealing credit card data while it is in transit.

CompliancePoint is one of a very select group of PCI compliance certification firms authorized to certify to P2PE standards. As a QSA P2PE, CompliancePoint is qualified to validate the full range of payment applications and encryption device management solutions that P2PE providers offer to merchants.

“The P2PE certification is designed to help merchants streamline compliance efforts and better protect their customers’ payment card information,” explains Jerry Wyble, VP and Practice Manager for CompliancePoint. “We offer a single source for compliance solutions in the payment card industry and strive to maintain the highest qualifications and skill sets. With new certifications such as the P2PE, we continue to help our clients respond to regulatory changes and implement the latest security standards.”
